Library Mission
The mission of our library is to make available to students, teachers and parents a collection of materials that will enrich and support the curriculum and meet the information and reading needs of everyone. A primary goal of the library is to help find resources that are appropriate for subject areas, ages, social/emotional development, ability levels, learning styles and individual reading tastes of the kindergarten through sixth grade students. We encourage you to share with us your thoughts, questions and suggestions about your child’s use of the library.

Borrowing Books
Every week, all students are encouraged to borrow books and to take them home and read them. Kindergarten students are allowed two books a week and first grade and up are allowed three books. If students have overdue books, they will not be able to take books out, until they bring their books back. Books are checked out for one week. Students are allowed to renew books that they already have signed out.

We are happy to see students learning good library habits: taking good care of books, feeling responsible for what they have checked out and the need for returning books so that others may enjoy them, and of course, most importantly, the enjoyment of reading! We would appreciate parents reinforcing these good habits with their children and help your child enjoy the materials they bring home by taking an interest in what they have checked out.

Library Catalog
Our collection is accessible from home and from school on our web-based library catalog. Go to www.lincolncs.org and click on the Library and then the Library Catalog. When students log in, the can “Get Info” about their library accounts and browse the collection. They can also access the “Visual Search” for going to approved websites that have been selected to support thematic units.

Reading Log
New this upcoming year, is a binder that holds pages for the third through sixth grade students. After students have read a book, they are encouraged to mark down these books. Thanks to the Tari Shattuck Education Foundations, we have a complete set of the Dorothy Canfield Fisher books. Each students’ page will have a check-off list of these great books.

Donating Books
If you would like to donate a new book, in honor of a teacher, student, community member, we’d love to have it in our library We’ll put a book plate in it.

Books Authored by Students
We have a growing section of books written and illustrated by our students. Please come and took a look at these great books!
